Spoilers alert
Quite the finale. Wow, they sure threw a lot at us
I didn't care so much for the middle episodes; the drama felt forced. I'm talking around the spoiler, haha. It felt less natural than the earlier Tori-Robbie-Sam-Miguel romantic drama to me; we know more about each's backstories, and love them by the time they start being too promiscuous. I like the aggressive Korean kid fine, but the newest European team is uninteresting to me. Even their coach just isn't as compelling a villain as Silver, Kreese, or grandpa Cobra Kai. As technically skilled karate opponents, they're impressive, but emotionally, they lack the same level of connection that the others have, especially Kreese and younger Terry Silver (either from Karate Kid 2 or 3). Terry is like the perfect freaking villain. So devious and manipulative. It helps that he's hella rich, too
The ending was amazing. The level of self-doubt Tori and Robbie had was very relatable, if a bit weak. And the nostalgic throwbacks with all our favorite characters was super cool. 100% worked for me. New-Miyagi-Do's comeback was compelling, and I did genuinely think they could lose. Certainly Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai have lost before, though I guess not in the finals against unknown enemies? It's been awhile; I'd have to think more deliberately to remind myself. Anyway, I wasn't 100% confident they'd pull through, but ofc they ended up doing so
Johnny and Miguel were such a throwback to S1, always some of my favorites.
