A poem to interpret

Mind like water
Body like air
Soul like fire
All this I share

Today I set forth
Departing from my lair
Mind like water
Body like air

Mind like water
Body like air
Soul like fire
Onlookers beware

There lies your earth
For it I care
Mind like water
Body like air

Spirit like water
Brain like air
Body like fire
All this I share

Tomorrow I venture
To slay a bear
Spirit like water
Brain like air

Spirit like water
Brain like air
Body like fire
Onlookers beware

With the bear gone
The forest can live without care
Spirit like water
Brain like air

Mind like water
Body like air
Soul like fire
All this I share

The woods lay silent
Quietly bare
Mind like water
Body like air

Mind like water
Body like air
Soul like fire
Tourists beware

I visit your earth
Offering bear to bare
Mind like water
Body like air

Body like water
Spirit like air
Mind like fire
All this I share

There lies your grave
Trespassers beware
Body like water
Spirit like air

Body like water
Spirit like air
I lie on your earth
Too tired to care

Body of water
Full breadth of air
Tomorrow I will return
To die in my lair

  1. Ben, I read this poem and it instnatly brightened my day. My churchhill 3 had its ammo rack damaged, hence my Indonesian family was starting to lose respect for me. But this poem, this poem allowed me to take the first step towards setting it right. I remembered that I wasn't some random New Guinean on dole, waiting for the next handout. But rather, I am a strong, independent new Guamanian who don't need no family.
